Research Scientist – Protein Chemistry and Engineering

We are on the cusp of the next revolution in food technology, and are working on some of the most exciting scientific discoveries of our generation. We are looking for a talented Research Scientist with expertise in the field of Protein Chemistry and Engineering, as well as someone who believes in our mission and wants to be a part of the team.

You Will:

  • Work closely with our CTO and staff and perform project specific tasks relating to protein engineering, production, extraction and chemical and biochemical characterization
  • Perform front-end protein sequence bioinformatics and modelling analyses
  • Design different protein constructions and test them using the fast-growing bacterium Escherichia coli
  • Transform and test different E. coli strains depending on the protein
  • Extract proteins, purify and test for identification and modification
  • Perform full analysis and characterization of the different purified proteins for allergenicity and toxicology studies
  • Contribute to transferable and scalable SOP development

You Are:

  • A self-starter who can work independently and as a key member of the team
  • A problem solver who can improvise and come up with creative solutions
  • A fast learner ready to roll up your sleeves and get going

You have:

  • A minimum of a PhD qualification with the relevant science background and research/industrial experience
  • Strong experience working with different strains such as bacterial, and fungal microbial systems
  • Strong experience in recombinant protein production
  • Strong experience in protein extraction, purification, analysis and characterization
  • Strong experience in protein bioinformatics and modelling analyses
  • Experience in the areas of Genomics and Proteomics
  • Ability to work independently, competently and professionally
  • Great attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot quickly
  • Passion for sustainability and creating a future food system that is kind to people, animals, and the planet
  • U.S. work authorization
